New design and title! Formerly known as Return to Spiritlands, this award winning follow- up to Spiritlands uses Native American flutes, Indian drums, and a host of other instruments to create a delightful and unforgettable desert experience.
Born in 1953 Huling's received his formal music training in percussion instruments which cemented a solid rhythmic foundation for his Flute compositions. Huling's formal education ranges from Psychology, Oceanography, and being a pre-med student to running his own advertising and marketing agency (which included a business consulting firm) and 16 years as a successful commercial photographer.
'Having had close friends like Photographer Ansel Adams obviously did not hurt my photography but in an odd and perfectly natural way got me interested in music again!' exclaims Huling 'Ansel and I did more piano playing together than taking pictures. I really learned a lot from him about composition, even as applied to music.'
Heralded as being one of the originators of the 'Native American influenced' sound Huling uses self-recorded nature sounds and plays a variety of acoustic instruments including piano, keyboard samplers, pan flutes, 'alternately tuned' guitars, exotic drums and of course Native American flutes. Television networks such as ABC, BBC, CBS, NBC, PBS, The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel and The Travel Channel use Huling's music with many of their documentaries concerning the environment as well as Native American subjects.
Composer / Producer / Multi-instrumentalist / Artist Since 1983 John Huling's music has received worldwide accolades. Heard and sold worldwide in countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, China, England, Germany, Holland, South America, Japan and dozens of other countries too numerous to list. Huling's album sales have sold more than 1.5 million albums worldwide.
