Whilst the first ever instrumental disc in the Sona Rupa record-label series, Divinity, introduced new compositions of well-known, much loved age-old Bhajans; truly a sublime rendition of our prayers in music, Divinity 2 traversed similar grounds but highlighted the sacredness of particular musical instruments and the Indian classical raags frequently used in Bhajans and Kirtans. Divinity 3, yet again, explored the underlying theme of devotion, meditation and salvation through well-known spiritual and devotional compositions of ancient and modern times whilst Divinity 4 celebrated the Divine through popular devotional compositions, mostly from Indian films.
Divinity 5, Divinity 6 and now Divinity 7 continue the theme of bringing the best of traditional and popular devotional music such as the most exalted of them all, the Gayatri Mantra and the evergreen Shri Krishna Govind Stuti. This spiritual garland of devotion also embraces some of the most popular bhajans penned by Meerabai, Sant Kabir and Raidasji, amongst others.
Rakesh Chaurasia is the nephew and disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Adept at playing the popular and folk music, he is equally at home in the Indian classical genre. In Sona Rupa's Mind, Body & Soul Collection Series, this very gifted flautist has already made his mark on the international scene with Solo and collaborative tracks in various albums.
