Since the early '90s, Kitaro's music has evolved further with an astonishing run of 26 albums for longtime home Domo Records, garnering both critical and commercial success. The best moments of that tenure are contained herein with tracks that reveal the depth of a singular and lasting artistry and stand as a testament to Kitaro's enduring imagination.
The sheer breadth of Kitaros eclecticism is on full display here, with selections from his essential soundtrack work collected on The Best of Silk Road, 2002s The Soong Sisters, to his Broadway score for Cirque Ingenieux, as well as more personal creations such as the two-volume Sacred Journey of Kukai, a surprising melting pot of prog-rock guitar, haunting woodwinds, sampling of natural sounds and even Buddhist monk chanting.
Though his studio output is indispensible, it is the live realm where Kitaro really shines. The DVD that is included complements this CD collection with stunning footage of two very different but equally epic performances: a 1999 concert in Spain and a 2004 show in China, both demonstrating that Kitaros music truly crosses borders to deliver a universal message.
The Grammy® and Golden Globe-winning Kitaro has garnered global acclaim over a more than three decade long career with a signatuze sound and a pioneering fusion of cultures, techniques and spheres of consciousness that are truly his own. Universally acknowledged as the founding architect of new age music, Kitaro's various sound collaborations and resonant, multi-textured compositions truly defy the constraints of any genre.
