In The Key of Earth is a musical celebration of our planet as a living organism, with its pulse, breath, rhythms, and cycles. In this ambient recording, sound healer Marjorie de Muynck bends and reinvents the boundaries between sound and music through seldom-heard harmonics created with acoustic instruments - all supported by the primordial Earth tone of Ohm, a scientifically calculated frequency that matches the elliptical path of our planet as it orbits the sun. The effect is symphonic and inspirational, evoking the macrocosm and the forces of creation.
Biography:
Marjorie de Muynck, MA in music education, is the creator of Ohm Therapeutics, a system that features the healing resonance of Ohm through music combined with the therapeutic application of tuning forks and other sound instruments. Marjorie has had a lifelong interest in sound. As a small child she was constantly listening for harmonics and overtones in whistling tea kettles and humming refrigerators, and spent much time outside following the sounds of animals and the wind. In 1987 she was a founding member of the world-touring Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, and composer for the film Crocodile Tears. In addition, de Muynck has been a student of oriental medicine for more than 25 years. She also studied under the tutelage of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, who encouraged her to pursue her music while exploring the healing arts.
In 1996, Marjorie co-developed the Acutonics® System. She is co-author of the textbook There’s No Place Like Ohm, Sound Healing, Oriental Medicine, and the Cosmic Mysteries (Devachan Press, 2002). A faculty member at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle for six years, Marjorie has taught Shiatsu, Hara Diagnosis, Kundalini Yoga, Reiki, and Acutonics. She also co-developed a healing treatment called Harmonic Attunement®, which incorporates using cosmically tuned symphonic gongs, tuning forks, didgeridoos, Tibetan bowls, and bells.
Marjorie is presently writing a book about Ohm, overtones, and sound healing, and she is directing the production of instructional DVDs demonstrating the use of Ohm tuning forks by Lemniscate Music. Marjorie began her intriguing journey pioneering musical works in the key of Ohm in 1999. Her sound healing students had requested she create music that would harmonize with Ohm tuning forks.
