A musical pilgrimage of inspiration and reverence, this collection draws from White Cloud's stable of world class artists. The melodic flow ranges from the richly orchestrated Celtic strains of Michael Atkinson's 'Mother Of the Celts' and 'Morning Of The World' to the softly lilting phrases of Celia Briar's harp on 'The Clergy's Lament' and 'The Dove'. Also included is Jon Mark's 'From The Mists Of Time' title track setting the scene for a spiritual tribute of over seven centuries of composers.
David Downes' specially commissioned track 'Sanctuary' is an alchemy of voices, acoustic instruments, samples and compelling rhythms, while Radha Sahar's clever use of the structure of a medieval Mass in 'The Deliverance' creates music with an awesome sense of contemplation and haunting reverence.
Interspersed between the tracks by White Cloud's 21st century composers are sections of medieval Gregorian chant and choral Mass performed by Nova Schola Gregoriana, Camerata Cassovia and The Hungarian Radio Chorus. The moving sound of their combined voices adds an impressive and spacious dimension to an already impressive album.
Producer/composer Jon Mark has pioneered the realm of ambient lyricism for many years and demonstrated a strong affinity for expressing a sense of the mystical on his previous releases 'The Standing Stones of Callanish', 'Land Of Merlin' and 'A Celtic Story'. With the beautiful music of 'From The Mists Of Time', he has created a peaceful sanctuary of music.
