As a teenager Kristian Schultze completed his studies for compostion and piano at the Berlin Music Conservatory while playing clubs and concerts as a jazz pianist. His studies continued until 1966 and included terms in Berlin, the Music Academy in Vienna and the Jazz School in Graz, Austria. During this time he was also touring with his own trio and quartett. The climax of his studies was fourth place in the International Competetion of Modern Jazz 1966 in Vienna. Settling in Munich 1967 he became involved with film, TV and theatre-music specializing in the use of synthesizers. He was kept quite busy in the studios as an arranger and producer and working as a musician on special sessions. Although he is well-known in Germany probably most important to Doldinger's Passport 1973 to 1976 (LPs 'Looking Thru, 'Cross Colateral', 'Infinity Machine', 'Doldinger's Jubilee 1 & 2'). This was followed by a period of producing, arranging and studio work in Munich with such diverse artists as Amanda Lear and Bernie Paul to Germany Rock artist Udo Lindenberg. Also included were productions for Rock-Fusion groups and his continued involvement with Jazz forms. 'New Expedition Extra' A total solo LP as arrangements and parts were programmed into the Erdenklang-Music-Computer-System which uses a Fairlight. Some of the solos were added in by an analoge synthesizer due to the fact that although the Fairlight has a 'real time composer' system the keyboard on present models is a little too stiff to allow complete solo freedom. Mixing acoustical sounds through electronic techniques and drawing from his background of Jazz, Rock, Pop and Classical Kristian has produced a spacey and colourful production with flowing musical themes that relates to the title 'New Expedition Extra': the 'EXTRA' is the extension of acoustical sounds programmed into the computer.
