“Performance artist Someren's CD utilizes droning 'chanting' and vocal harmonizing to create a soundscape that helps draw one into deeper meditation, either by listening, or by chanting along. Except for the last cut, there are no musical instruments: only solo voices and choirs. Each track blends into the next to form a complete meditational backdrop. Dead silence at the end of 'Completion' would make you think the CD is finished, but not so! “OM” is the sacred sound which encompasses the Unity of all things. It is the word that symbolises the Eternal, the Undying Self. This CD is a one hour journey of sound with six different musical phases smoothly flowing into each other. One can meditate with it in silence or join in chanting - and it can be used as an inspiring musical backdrop. The music consists purely of solo voices and choirs by Lex van Someren and Sara Olivier (with the basic key in F). Because of dubbing the voices partly up to 250 times and because its many intriguing harmonies, this has become a unique piece of art with a cosmic quality and with an extremely powerful sound vibration - a true medicine for body, mind and soul!
Biography:
Lex Van Someren internationally known as a visionary performance artist, composer, singer, dancer and clown, who knows how to embody the dimensions of the soul in his art. His work is an expression of the vision he holds to create beauty through sacred performance art, music and rituals which bring transformation, healing, upliftment, inspiration and love to people of all ages and of all walks of life. His way of life as a mystic led him to the spiritual dimensions of music and sound.
By furthering his experience in the magical power of his singing voice and his own compositions he uncovered a unique way to use music as a medium to awaken the soul. His path of sensitivity has permitted him over the years to become an authority of sacred music for our modern times. Lex performs worldwide.
In 2002 he founded the European Academy for New Sacred Arts in Baden-Baden, Germany, and he is the initiator and director of the mystical concert- and stageshow Dream Journey for the Soul (Traumreise fur die Seele).
