Biography:
TIM STORY's intensely personal style as a pianist and synthesist developed from his love of the instruments themselves rather than any formal training. Other than some early guitar lessons, the Philadelphia-born artist is self-taught. After honing his keyboard skills on piano, he became a studio composer in the mid 70s with the advent of synthesizers.
From his base in Maumee, a small town near Toledo, Ohio, Story works as a recording engineer and is also a partner in a commercial music production company. This deadline-ridden business is balanced nicely by his meticulous compositional process. When writing and recording his own albums, Story spends months carefully working and refining the shape of each composition until he achieves the desired emotional effect. His seemingly simple pieces distill harmonic and melodic ideas that are actually quite complex.
