Reviews:

'Expansive, tender, and passionately spiritual, Demby's music is designed for stress relief, contemplation, and serenity. Given Demby's multidimensional talents, it's no wonder her music is listened to all around the world.' - New Age Retailer

'One of the top 'Chill Out' CD's' - Body & Soul Magazine

'The opening minutes of this album herald a quality the likes of which you will rarely hear on a synth album. The first piece stops you in your tracks with its sheer, almost overwhelming beauty.... this is the sound of heaven, like never before... ...one of the most beautiful musical experiences I think I've ever heard in this genre... Spiritually, sonically and emotionally, it is music that sounds like nothing else in creation. There is a lot of music out there to be lived, but few that truly touch the soul, this is one of the few.' - CD Services

'Alternate Awareness. This deep space music is intended for meditation and introspection. The soundscapes just reach out and grab listeners. It becomes an alternate awareness that allows listeners to enter a trance-like state of being. Within that state, deep listeners see more clearly. The journey leads to increased spiritual and emotional well-being. Essential for new age and space music fans.' - All Music Guide

'The combination of her symphonic synthesizers and Gregorian chants is a stroke of genius; it creates a solemn and reverent soundscape. I found it very difficult to focus on writing while listening to it, as Sanctum takes you to the next zone. This inspirational music reminded me to seek my spiritual and emotional balance and allowed me to find the moments of serenity that I needed to make it through some difficult situations. For that, I am eternally grateful to Constance!' - Jim Brenholts '-Tracks Across the Universe: A Chronology of Ambient and Electronic Music'

'A true masterpiece!!! We will play it endlessly'! - Radio SLOR, The Netherlands

'Some albums warn listeners 'do not operate heavy machinery while listening to this music.' I'd take the 'warning' on Constance Demby's new 'Sanctum Sanctuorum' steps beyond that. Do not sit upright nor stand because this music will dissolve you. 'Indescribable' only starts to describe it..... Her music folds over itself, exudes, and disappears. But none of that put together adds up to the sublime mystery of what makes me go wherever it is that is beyond language, beyond memory, beyond explanation. On a dozen listens, I sensed I either dropped through a trap door or got 'gonged' out of this universe. What happens? I don't know. How did Connie do it? I doubt she knows herself. But she did. Perhaps she's found the way to make time reverse. With this album, she has given us a remarkable gift: the carpet of sound to the 'all-or-nothing.' -Carol Wright, music writer for New Age Voice and bn.com

'Sanctum Sanctuorum' is majestic, sacred symphonic music, comprised of Gregorian chant, ambient atmospheres, and lots of that special 'Demby magic'. This is extraordinary new music from Constance Demby, seemingly at just the appropriate time. Originally conceived as the soundtrack music for the video 'Faces of the Christ,' this music has grown and expanded beautifully to take its rightful place next to 'Novus Magnificat' and 'Aeterna'. The soaring passages of human emotions run the gamut from soft & tender, to passionate & dramatic, with space elements throughout, seemingly as only this unique artist is able. Her music is to be treasured.' - Backroads

'If we select one musician who embodies the evolutionary spirit of New Age music,-- that musician would be Constance Demby.' - Body Mind Spirit

'Allows listeners to enter a trance-like state of being. The journey leads to increased spiritual and emotional well-being.' - All Music Guide

'Expansive, tender and passionately spiritual, Demby's music is designed for stress relief, contemplation and serenity.' - New Age Retailer

Description:

'The first piece stops you in your tracks with its sheer, almost overwhelming beauty. But if that didn't get you, the next one is so spiritual that, if tears don't begin to well up in your eyes, you have no feelings at all, for this is the sound of heaven like never before. A galaxian string synth lead of gorgeous, emotive yet delicate qualities, rises up to fill the space inside and outside your head, while the male-female Gregorian choir-like refrains on top just add to the amazing strength and serenity of it all. It really is almost overwhelming, one of the most beautiful musical experiences I think I've ever heard in this genre... Spiritually, sonically and emotionally, it is music that sounds like nothing else in creation. There is a lot of music out there to be lived, but few that truly touch the soul this is one of the few.' - Andy Garibaldi, CD Services

Biography:

An irrepressible personality with an infectious joie de vivre, Constance Demby is also a sincere spiritual seeker. A fifth generation Californian born in Oakland, Demby began classical piano studies at the age of eight. At twelve she moved to Connecticut where her artistic studies also included painting and sculpture.

Throughout the 70s, she gave concerts, workshops and visual/musical presentations all over the eastern seaboard. During this period, she began to develop new forms of contemplative classical music. By the end of the decade, she had established her own label and released her first albums of meditative and sacred spacemusic (Skies Above Skies and Sunborne).

Demby's music blossomed when she returned permanently to northern California in 1980 and began experimenting with electronic instruments. Two years later, she released Sacred Space Music Vol. 1, an enduring album featuring hammered dulcimer, acoustic piano and synthesizer (re-released in 1988, HS11010).

Soon after the arrival of digital sampling keyboards, Demby integrated symphonic instrumental sounds into her music and began recording in her own 16-track studio. There she produced Novus Magnificat (1986, HS11003). Her 1989 release Set Free (HS11016) added rhythms and influences from Bali and Africa to her contemporary classical base and was hailed as a first-rate release by an artist in her prime. Several international tours followed, to Europe, South America, the Canary Islands, Japan, Indonesia and beyond.

With the help of Jim Miller of Stratus Sounds, Demby updated her entire studio in the early 90s, replacing many of her early synthesizers with an impressive array of the latest electronic instruments and recording technology.
