Description:

The Persian word 'darwish' (literally: the sill of the door) is accepted in Arabic and Turkish (dervish) to describe the Sufi who is the one who is at the door to enlightenment. The passages of this work lead us to crossing this threshold, to going 'beyond' that door.

This music is more dance oriented with a sequence of tracks taking the listener towards a hypothetic door of knowledge that leads to a passage of dimension, going beyond that door to discover what lies on the other side.

Real soundscapes sometimes inspired by the Persian tradition follow one another in the complex melodic texture with micro-octaves effects that captures the listener in a sonic universe that, apart from shaking the listener's boots, will allow careful listening to give oneself up totally.

Ideal for dance floors and deep listening, 'The Sill of the Door' offers a psychedelic trance to go beyond body and emotions, beyond mind and oneself.

Biography:

Initiated into music at the age of 4, Suraj has experienced many different musical paths. In 1977 and 1980 he released two singles for the Italian RCA label, he had a blues band for 20 years, he played with the world famous jazzmen Stefano Cocco Cantini - who used to play saxophone with the Italian pop star Raf - and the double-bass player Lello Pareti, he 'discovered' and taught the first steps to improve her work to the chart-topper Italian vocalist Irene Grandi and he worked with two members of the Italian successful act Dirottasucuba.

From the middle 70's his inner quest brought him towards what once we used to call 'experimental' and more recently 'new age', thus for a while he was in the field of music for healing, but then he kept away from these methods becoming too popular. Always attracted by these ways of inner knowledge he continued his search especially through Gurdjieff teachings.
