For forty years, the author and journalist Joachim-Ernst Berendt has been one of the most well-known and influential writers on music in Germany, the foremost authority when it comes to music which ventures into unknown artistic territory. Now Berendt has assembled a unique collection of choral music from all over the world. The 'greatest, mightiest human sound' is traced from the Amen of Handel's Messiah to the Om of the Tibetan monks, from New Jersey gospel to Mozart's Dies Irae, from Iceland to the Congo. Its diversity renders this record a virtual reference work for choral music. What is more, pieces from widely different cultures and traditions complement one another to a degree so perfect that it seems like magic. The album is a must for every admirer of choir music. This collection of great choir music first appeared in 1989; in Germany, however, it was only available by mailorder. In a new and expanded edition, Voices! Voices! is now being released in a representative 3-CD box by Jaro Medien Voices; a gem in the Jaro series Voices, which presents vocal projects of different periods, genres and cultures.
The frequencies of the earth, sun and the moon have been reproduced acoustically on the sandawa, a multi string mono-chord instrument. When used in meditation, these sounds bring the listener's consciousness into harmony with the primordial energy of the heavenly bodies. Each 2-CD Set is 2 hours in length of meditating time.
