Marcio Montarroyos was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1948. He played classical piano for ten years, then fell in love with the trumpet. He studied jazz at Boston's Berklee School of Music, returning to Rio to form his own group. As one of Brazil's most respected session musicians, he's accompanied jazz and pop artists from Stevie Wonder to Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. As a trumpet and flügelhorn soloist, Montarroyos has performed at prestigious jazz festivals across the globe. Montarroyos is joined on this recording by Lincoln Olivetti, Dan Grusin and Luis Avelar on keyboards and Jurim Moreira on drums.
