Erdenklang Musik

The development and philosophy of the Erdenklang label is closely linked with the history of popular electronic instrumental music. The launch of the label in January 1982 with the "Erdenklang - Computerakustische Klangsinfonie" by Hubert Bognermayr and Harald Zuschrader ran parallel with the revolutionary advancement of the Fairlight music computer. Erdenklang's scope began to widen in the late eighties to encompass a wide range of global influences combining electronic music with many aspects of ethnic, world and native traditional music. Recordings with non-electronic instruments also find their place in this "eclectophonic" catalogue. The "Silent Beauty" series is Erdenklang's showcase for the "New Age" genre; however, there still remains a degree of unconventionality to the music that saves it from total insipidness.
