Sona Rupa
Sona Rupa produces Instrumental and Vocal music that broadly retains the light classical Indian raga structure and yet draws together the modern elements of western and traditional Indian instruments. This synthesis has found instant affinity, both with the uninitiated young and the old alike. The soothing, meditative and relaxing qualities have universal appeal that transcends all of humanity. Divinity - Divine Music for Meditation, the first of many albums reflecting these qualities, has been a best-seller worldwide.
Sona Rupa also presents various aspects of devotional and spiritual vocal music, be it chanting of mantras, Bhajans or Kirtans, aptly enunciated by many of the renowned legendary singers and musicians in this field. It endeavours to bring to the listener a complete musical and spiritual experience to savour.
The practice of meditation has occurred worldwide since ancient times. The Hindus perfected the art of sacred chanting (mantra) that dates back at least 3,000 years and is probably the oldest continuous vocal tradition in the world. A "mantra" signifies the sacred formula or verse, the incantation of which leads to spiritual liberation and enrichment of daily life. Of all the sacred "Mantras", there is none considered more exalted than the Gayatri, a prayer for spiritual and meditative stimulation. Most importantly, the classical raga based music helps explore the full gamut of feeling, emotion, passion, commitment and transcendence that a human being can experience. It is music for meditation, relaxation and yoga.
